Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Compact Kitchen rental?

The Compact Kitchen is a self-contained temporary kitchen designed for homeowners living in their home during a kitchen renovation. It includes a sink with running water, fresh and grey water tanks, an electric cooktop, microwave shelf, outlets, and storage — all on a mobile unit that plugs into a standard outlet.

Why would I need a temporary kitchen?

Most kitchen renovations take 4–8 weeks, and during that time your main kitchen is unusable. Our compact kitchen allows you to continue cooking simple meals, washing dishes, and maintaining a normal routine without relying on takeout or using a bathroom sink.

Many customers say it becomes one of the most useful things they rent during their renovation.

Is renting a Compact Kitchen cheaper than eating takeout during a renovation?

For many families, yes.

Kitchen renovations often last 4–8 weeks, and relying on takeout for every meal can get expensive quickly.

For a typical family of four, takeout or restaurant meals can easily cost $80–$140 per day, which adds up to:

$560–$980 per week
$2,200–$3,900 per month

Our Compact Kitchen rental is $499 per week, giving you the ability to cook simple meals, prepare breakfast, make coffee, and wash dishes at home.

But the biggest benefit isn’t just the cost — it’s the convenience and comfort of having a functional space during your renovation.

Without a kitchen, many homeowners end up:

• Washing dishes in the bathroom sink or bathtub
• Cooking on a folding table in the living room
• Living off constant takeout

A Compact Kitchen provides a clean, organized space with running water, cooking, and storage, helping your home maintain some normalcy while construction is underway.

For many families, simply being able to cook a few real meals, make coffee in the morning, and wash dishes in a proper sink makes the renovation far easier to live through.

What do I need to run the Compact Kitchen?

Very little. The unit only requires:

• One standard electrical outlet (120v)
• Space to place the unit (usually in a dining room or living room)
• Access to fill and empty the water tanks

Everything else is built into the unit.

Is the Compact Kitchen insured?

Yes. Our equipment is covered under our business liability insurance while it is rented and installed in your home.

Each Compact Kitchen unit is designed with safety in mind and includes:

GFCI protected outlets
Electric cooktop (no gas required)
Self-contained fresh and grey water tanks
Water leak sensor
Fire extinguisher

The unit only requires a standard household outlet to operate and does not require any permanent plumbing or modifications to your home.

Our goal is to provide a safe, convenient temporary kitchen solution while your renovation is underway.

How does the water system work?

The kitchen uses a self-contained water system with a fresh water tank and a grey water tank. An electric pump provides running water to the sink. The tanks can easily be filled and emptied as needed. 7 gallon(60lbs each)

How long can I rent the unit?

Our rentals have a 3-week minimum, which aligns with the typical early stages of most kitchen renovations. Many customers keep the unit for 4–8 weeks depending on their project timeline.

Do you deliver and set up the unit?

Yes. We deliver, setup, and pickup so the kitchen is ready to use before your renovation begins.

Do you rent anything besides the compact kitchen?

Yes. We offer several items designed to make living through a renovation easier, including:
• Portable dishwasher
• Microwave rentals
• Temporary pantry shelving
• Airtight storage containers
• Kitchen packing and protected storage services

What are temporary dust walls?

Dust walls are plastic containment barriers installed between rooms to keep renovation dust from spreading throughout your entire home. They help protect your living space while construction is underway.

Why would I need floor protection?

Renovations involve heavy foot traffic, tools, and materials that can easily damage floors. Our temporary floor protection helps prevent scratches, dents, and debris from damaging your floors.

Do you offer kitchen packing services?

Yes. We can pack, remove, and store your kitchen contents on site before demolition begins. Your items are carefully packed into sealed storage containers and kept protected until your new kitchen is ready.

Where do you service?

We primarily service homeowners throughout the New York / New Jersey tri-state area.

How far in advance should I reserve?

We recommend reserving your rental as soon as your renovation start date is scheduled to ensure availability. At least a 2 week lead time is preferred
